How to Inspire Your First Day of Summer Fitness Goals

Memorial Day weekend is considered the beginning of summer, but June 2022 marks the official start. This is what the first day in summer 2022 means to you and your goals for fitness.

The warm weather could be here, depending on where you are located in the world or country. We are blessed here in Florida. It seems that almost every day is sunny and warm.

You can now take your workout outside thanks to the warmer temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere.

Get Outdoors for Your Summer Fitness Goals

Everyone has a different definition of fitness and wellbeing. But, we can all agree that the beauty of our planet is amazing, and that taking your workout outside is a great way to change up your routine.

Before you get too mad at me for making this statement, I want to clarify that every piece of equipment and each type of exercise are unique and can be used for different training purposes. You must do strength and resistance training if you want to increase your muscle size.

You must increase your heart rate, challenge your heart, and do lung exercises to improve your cardiovascular ability. Our bodies don’t distinguish between different exercise methods.

Reformer pilates vs. bodyweight training

Intensity and effort are related to the difficulty and weight of the workout and the Rate Perceived Exercise (RPE). Outdoor workouts are often ridiculed because they are easier than traditional gym training.

To replicate the training effect, take your outdoor workout outside. The same results will be achieved if you do ten repetitions of a bench press with a barbell, as opposed to a chest press that is performed to failure.

These two exercises have different biomechanics. The physiological effects of ten repetitions of failure on muscles, tendons and ligaments are quite similar.

Similar to indoor cardio equipment, outdoor swimming, hiking and riding a bicycle outdoors will all be possible. An elliptical is a different exercise than swimming. However, it’s important to not get too focused on one mode.

Vary Cardio-Based Summer Workouts

To take advantage of the warmer weather, you can vary your cardio-based workouts. When I take a break from my indoor bike to go for a hike, it makes me feel more prepared for my next ride. This could be the boost you need to overcome any plateaus you might be facing.

You can switch your summer exercise to allow you to take advantage of the outdoors, while also replacing it with something similar. This will almost have the same effect. You can substitute indoor exercise with an outdoor one.

It is the official start of summer, so it is time for you to change up your workouts and get outside. It is easy to get bored with your at-home, indoor workouts. We also became very creative in finding solutions for our fitness problems.
